The weather was hot but the auctions were even hotter in Auckland yesterday, with Ray White New Zealand selling more than $56 million in property under the hammer across two massive auction events.

The group held two massive auction events yesterday, The Day auction event in South Auckland, and The Event on the North Shore.

Ray White New Zealand lead auctioneer Sam Steele, who called The Day auctions alongside Ray White auctioneer Ben East (pictured above), said the events were a testament to the group’s strength as a leading auction business.

“Yesterday represented a milestone event for Ray White Zealand with 109 properties auctioned across two venues,” Mr Steele said.

“This was an extraordinary feat given it’s only January, and it puts us in very good stead for the rest of 2024.

“Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere, and Mangere Bridge’s January auction event further enhanced their position as the market leaders in auctions.

“There were more than 50 auctions called over 10 hours, which saw 33 properties sold.

“Incredibly the South Auckland event delivered over 300 registered bidders with more than 90 per cent of properties enjoying active bidding.”

The Day saw 51 properties go under the hammer from Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere, and Mangere Bridge, with an impressive 64 per cent of properties sold under the hammer – worth more than $29 million in total.

The top auction of The Day went to Ray White Manukau agents Jay Singh and Jess Carlin who sold 357 West Road, Brookby under the hammer for $1.88 million. The property attracted eight registered bidders.

The auction with the highest number of registered bidders was for 25 Alexander Ave, Papatoetoe which attracted 14 registered bidders. The property sold under the hammer for $1.2 million, a great result for the vendor and Ray White Manukau marketing agents David Ma and Amy Nguyen.

Another fantastic result went to 34 Cockburn Street, Grey Lynn, marketed by Ray White Manurewa agent Josh Anderson. Despite needing a lot of TLC, the property attracted eight registered bidders, and achieved the highest number of bids at The Day, with six bidders fighting it out for a total of 65 bids. The property sold under the hammer for $1.351 million.

Ray White Manukau | Manurewa | Mangere | Mangere Bridge director Tom Rawson said The Day had been a huge success.

“There was great energy in the room today, reflective of an underlying positive sentiment in the South Auckland market,” Mr Rawson said.

“Most properties had an abundance of buyers today, which will give our team plenty to do over the coming weeks, sourcing property for those who missed out.”

Ray White Manukau | Manurewa | Mangere | Mangere Bridge director Adam Thomson said each agent had worked tirelessly to provide the best result for their clients.

“The team work across the group was exceptional, with a couple of our team still away overseas, we had conference calls from Thailand and India as agents worked different time zones to help their clients into homes,” Mr Thomson said.

“We are proud to be out of the blocks with a great January under our belt and a lot of clients engaging our business to assist them over the coming months.”

The Event saw 13 Ray White businesses come together across the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast – including Ray White Albany, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Birkenhead Point, Forrest Hill, Glenfield, Manly Peninsula, Mairangi Bay, Orewa, Pinehill, Silverdale, Takapuna and Verrans Corner – to schedule 58 properties to go under the hammer yesterday, with an auction day clearance rate of 36.2 per cent.

The Event saw more than $27 million in property sold.

The top result of The Event went to Ray White Mairangi Bay agents Kris Cunningham and Andy Liu who sold 33A Churchill Road, Murrays Bay, North Shore City, for $3.51 million.

The auction with the highest number of registered bidders went to 62 Holland Road, Hillcrest, North Shore City which attracted seven registered bidders. The property sold at auction for $2 million, a great result for Ray White Glenfield agents Taylor Parbery and Ray Luo as well as their vendor.

Ray White Beach Haven | Glenfield | Verrens Corner | Silverdale business owner Glenn Carpenter said The Event was an opportunity for buyers and sellers to beat the February/March rush.

“Traditionally February and March are the second biggest listing periods of the year, but we know the buyers are there in January. Smart vendors have now sold and have their choice on all the listings coming onto the market in the next two months,” Mr Carpenter said.

“We’ve already taken offers from buyers who have missed out today on some of the properties that have passed in. There is great collective strength from our vendors.

“It’s exciting to see all the Ray White offices coming together for this auction event, it’s a spectacular day and great to showcase our skills.

“Not all auctions are created equal and we are confident we offer the best auction experience to our clients.”

Ray White Mairangi Bay salesperson Kris Cunningham said The Event had been a “cracker of a day”.

“It’s been great for all the vendors who have sold their properties at The Event today, it’s set them up for success,” he said.

“Vendors are taking advantage of taking their property to market so early into 2024 – it’s clear to see the strategy worked for many sellers.”
