Ray White Hokitika held what it believed to be the town’s first ever auction on Thursday, with 10 Little Paddock Road, selling under the hammer for $645,000.

Ray White Hokitika principal and auctioneer Mark Rumsey said it was a privilege to call Hokitika’s first auction which was held at the Hokitika RSA.

“Hokitika is a very trusting community,” Mr Rumsey said.

“Open and transparent communications with the West Coasters led to a great auction environment.

“We have two more booked for late November, and we’re just getting started.”

Ray White Hokitika listing agent Shelley Bainbridge said the property attracted a lot of attention with nine registered bidders at auction — four phone bidders and five in-room bidders.

“As soon as you stepped out of your car, the view just took your breath away, this was a home that you could not put a price on and the market definitely needed to determine,” Ms Bainbridge said.

“The views, location, and presentation of the home were outstanding.”

Ms Bainbridge said the buyers were owner occupiers from Cromwell.

“They just loved the home and were determined to have the home,” she said.
