Ray Chan

No stranger to excellence and success, Ray is an internationally awarded artist, a former corporate executive and top real estate salesperson. With experience serving international royalty and working with both the public and private sectors, he represents a new generation of real estate professionals that embrace excellence, innovation and - above all - a relational-first approach of serving others. An impressive communicator with a keen interest in cultures, he is also a native English, Cantonese & Mandarin speaker with an interest proficiency in German.

Hailing from an international background in the arts as an award-winning conductor from the Royal Academy of Music in London, Ray chartered a co-career in real estate in his twenties and was one a high performer at one of NZ’s largest real estate companies. He was then headhunted to join the MADE Group, a large-scale development firm, as Director of Engagement. There, he oversaw the national Partnerships, Sales, Communications and Marketing departments managing multiple consultants and teams while providing strategic leadership and direction as part of an executive board overseeing a project portfolio of $1.2bn+.

In 2023, Ray reignited his real estate career to combine his corporate experience, leadership and a next-generation approach to the industry. Within 12 months, he established and led his team to become #2 Sales Team (Epsom), #4 Sales Team (Central Auckland) and a ranking in the Top 2% of the Company. In 2024, he established Ray & Co. and joined forces with JQ Real Estate (Ray White Parnell) to better serve his focus areas of Epsom and Central Auckland clients with integrity, excellence and care - values that hold a special place with him and his elite team. 

Ray's outstanding sales record and client testimonials speak for themselves. In the quiet market period of 2023-2024, he and his team facilitated over $56.2m in settled sales while maintaining a 100% satisfaction rating from clients. He attributes this success with a 'never settle' attitude, an industry-leading marketing standard and astute negotiation skills. 

A true 'people first' professional, Ray’s vibrant career has seen him work with everyone from young people to community leaders, businesspeople to government ministers, mana whenua to even international royalty with whom he has previously collaborated. An impressive communicator, expert negotiator and proven engager, he is comfortable in the living or boardroom as he is on the international stage – always armed with a stellar work ethic and genuine desire to make strong connections. Ray is a big believer that real estate is a great provider, while the arts and the community is a great uniter. This is why he has used the platform of real estate to empower artistic events including 'Epsom Eve' (a free annual Christmas Concert for the community ft. international artists, in support of Mercy Hospice) and a much-loved annual VIP Soirée for his clients.

Outside of work, Ray enjoys hanging out with Charlie the cavapoo, spending quality time with friends and family, hopping onto his cafe racer motorcycle for a hoon around this slice of paradise we call home. He currently sits on the board of the New Zealand String Quartet (NZSQ) and is a regular assessor for public and private sector arts grants, while continuing to maintain selected guest conducting invitations with professional orchestras in the Asia-Pacific region. Ray graduated with Honours as a full-ride scholar from the National University of Singapore in 2013, before being awarded a Master of Arts with Distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2016 as the Henry Wood Scholar in Conducting.
