Ray White New Zealand saw 264 properties scheduled for auction during the first week of autumn, recording a 51.9 per cent clearance rate.
The network recorded an average of 2.1 registered bidders and 1.8 active bidders per auction.
“Rising public confidence, coupled with increasing inventory levels, has created remarkable momentum for Ray White’s auctions,” Ray White New Zealand head auctioneer Sam Steele said.
“Across New Zealand, Ray White saw 264 scheduled auctions last week, achieving a clearance rate of 51.9 per cent. This reflects both an expanding pool of available properties and a wealth of opportunities for buyers. Buyer engagement has also strengthened, with an average of 2.1 registered bidders per auction.
“Choosing the right method of sale remains paramount, and auctions continue to set the benchmark for success. With shifting buyer sentiment and a growing perception that the ‘buyer’s market’ is drawing to a close, many are acting decisively to secure properties. The transparency and competitive nature of auctions are increasingly valued, fostering strong outcomes and greater consumer confidence.
“Ray White New Zealand’s unwavering commitment to the auction process reinforces our leadership, driving engagement and trust as we move through the traditional market cycle.”

The top result for the week went to Ray White Mission Bay agents Vanessa Mowlem and Jono Barton who sold 23 Lisburn Avenue, Glendowie, Auckland City, under the hammer for $3.52 million. With Ray White Mission Bay owner and auctioneer Wayne Maquire on the gavel, the auction recorded two registered bidders and two active bidders.
“The sellers originally built the home in 2008, they raised their family there, and are now downsizing,” Ms Mowlem said.
“The buyers were another family. Most of our interest was from local families.
“Buyers were attracted to the location and the outlook. It had lovely urban sea views. It was a large home with multiple living spaces in a good school zone.”
The auction with the highest number of bidders also had the second highest auction sale price for Ray White New Zealand this week, with Ray White Remuera agent Lisa MacQueen selling 15 Seccombes Road, Epsom, Auckland City, under the hammer for $2.6 million. The auction recorded a whopping 20 registered bidders and 10 active bidders.
“We had more than 200 people through the property through the campaign,” Ms MacQueen said.
“It was a renovated home with wonderful flow. It was spacious and sunny and had integrated indoor outdoor living. It was on the edge of Newmarket close to the Westfield and the boutique shops and eateries. At the other end of the street was Auckland Grammar School.
“The property had been a long-term investment for the sellers, and when the lease expired they took the opportunity to sell.
“The buyers were a family with the parents working in Newmarket, so the location was important to them.
“Interest was predominantly families, but at the last minute investors were coming out of the woodwork which we haven’t seen in a long time.
“It was a good property and there’s a feeling that the market is about to move so, they wanted to get in quickly.”
