For the first time in around 40 years, a vacant waterfront lot at Tata Beach has come to market.
Located at 9 Cornwall Place, Tata Beach, Golden Bay, the 1,088sqm section has been in the seller’s family for three generations after her grandparents bought the block in the early 1970s to build a holiday home.
The seller said she and her family had had many holidays there over the years.
“Given it’s so close to the beach, and next door to a reserve, it’s idyllic,” she said.
“Soon after the house was built my grandparents planted a beautiful native garden which is still standing and has attracted a lot of native birds. So you have the birds and the bush and the sea.
“I went there every year as a child. It’s been in my family for around 50 years so it’s quite sentimental to us. We have now decided to move on as it’s time for a change.”
The home was removed from the section in 2023, leaving a vacant lot available on the beachfront for what is believed to be the first time in over 40 years. The property is being marketed by Ray White Golden Bay agent Billy Kerrisk.
“Golden Bay is a favourite holiday destination, particularly for Cantabrians, but really for people all over the world looking for the golden sand and turquoise sea the Abel Tasman area is renowned for,” Ms Kerrisk said.
“There are less than 100 transactions per year in the entire bay, and many of my registered buyers wait for years for a property to come up in a specific location. None is more sought after than beachfront Tata.”
Ms Kerrisk said she was excited to bring such an elusive beachfront opportunity to the market with only 30 beachfront titles at Tata Beach in total.
“The buyers who purchase this property are likely to have spent their childhood coming to Tata Beach on holiday or camping at Totaranui in the Abel Tasman National Park,” she said.
“They will have been waiting for a chance to achieve the dream of building their holiday home on the beachfront.
“Tata Beach opportunities are rare, only two or three beachfront transactions per decade, people will need to act quickly to be in with a chance.”
