With two decades of real estate experience, brothers David and Arthur Subritzky have taken over ownership of Ray White Ellerslie/Mt Wellington.

Real estate is in the blood of these brothers, with their mother Monica working in the industry for more than 30 years. The family had been in ownership of another real estate business before selling and purchasing Ray White Ellerslie/Mt Wellington from previous owner Philip Hall.

David Subritzky said Ray White Ellerslie/Mt Wellington was a family business.

“Monica still remains in the business in an advisory role. Funnily enough she began her real estate career in a Ray White office some 30 years ago when the brand first came to New Zealand. It seems only fitting she finishes her illustrious career back home at Ray White,” he said.

“Both Arthur and I are in our 40s and have spent nearly half of our lives in real estate.

“While we’ve had brief careers in other areas or travelled abroad straight out of school we can safely say all we’ve ever known is real estate, it certainly has dominated family dinner conversations for more than 30 years.”

“We both have families with school children around the same age, and as brothers we have always been close just as our families are.

“Our wives work in the business too – my wife Celine heads accounts and Arthur’s wife Dearne heads the property management division.”

While their real estate careers initially went in different directions, David said he is glad their paths rejoined in business ownership.

“Arthur is a highly awarded salesperson. In his first year he won rookie of the year then consistently ranking in the top 10 salespeople each year at previous brands,” he said.

“In recent years he has stepped back from selling, becoming more involved in the business, mentoring young salespeople new to the industry.

“I began in sales before studying and acquiring my branch manager’s and agent’s licence early on in my career while also selling.

“Monica, who was already in ownership, invited me into ownership with her in the role of branch manager for 10 years. The last five years have been part of the succession plan where I have taken on more of the role as principal under Monica’s mentorship.”

David said he had always admired the Ray White brand and reached out to Ray White New Zealand CEO Daniel Coulson to see if there were any opportunities for business ownership.

Daniel presented the opportunity to purchase Ray White Ellerslie/Mt Wellington, and David said he and Arthur jumped at the chance.

“We have observed for a long time now that the Ray White brand is so powerful, both with clients and the recruitment of salespeople and staff. It’s an attractive brand,” he said.

“Ray White has also been an innovator in technology and systems, always a step ahead of the other brands. I found myself as a business owner previously, often imitating Ray White choices of technology and systems.

“I was confident that being a part of Ray White would take our business and family legacy to that next level.

“Having the market share and such a huge chunk of it Auckland wide, it was a no-brainer for us that should an opportunity surface that we should take it with both hands.

“Already we’ve experienced far more than what we expected in the support that has been available.”

In the next 12 months, David and Arthur hope to grow their market share in Ellerslie and Wellington, and grow the teams’ enthusiasm towards auctions. They are currently undertaking renovations at the Ellerslie office, which includes a 50-person state of the art auction room.

“I really want our team to be known for being the leaders in Ellerslie and Mt Wellington,” David said.

“I want our team and our team members’ names to be the first ones to mind when the locals in the area think of real estate.

“I want to see Ellerslie and Mt Wellington plastered in yellow Ray White signs with our teams’ names on them.”

Ray White New Zealand chief agency officer Treena Drinnan welcomed the Subritzkys to the Ray White family.

“David and Arthur have strong family values which make them the perfect fit for Ray White,” she said.

“Their success as salespeople and experience running a real estate business will make them assets to the Ray White Ellerslie/Mt Wellington business.

“I look forward to witnessing everything they achieve as part of the Ray White family.”
