Ray White New Zealand Executive Chairman Carey Smith has been recognised as a life member by the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand for his contribution to REINZ and the wider real estate industry.

The REINZ is a membership organisation representing 99 per cent of the industry including more than 16,000 real estate professionals nationwide.

The CEO of Ray White New Zealand from 1998 to 2022, Mr Smith influenced the growth of many individuals and real estate businesses through his position. He has recently taken up a new role as Executive Chairman.

Ray White New Zealand has grown from 56 offices under the brand Ray White United to today being 195 offices under Ray White. The market share has grown exponentially currently sitting at 23.86 per cent of all residential property sold across New Zealand.

“I was honoured to receive a life membership of the Institute,” Mr Smith said.

“In reflecting on my career in New Zealand it has only been with Ray White.

“I was fortunate to be offered the leadership role in 1998 that enabled me to have a focus on Ray White but also be aware of the industry direction.

“Since that time we have been acutely aware of the relevance of the industry, the role we play in the housing area, and the need for community involvement.

“I am very humbled to have the acknowledgement of my peers through the Institute life member recognition.”
