Ray White Manurewa | Manukau | Mangere Bridge | Mangere had an unstoppable night at auction on Tuesday, with a 100 per cent clearance rate on more than $10 million in property.
National lead auctioneer Sam Steele sold nine out of nine properties under the hammer.
Lockdown was driving registrations through the roof, with 89 bidders registered on the night.
A three-bedroom home located at 19 Scotts Road, Manurewa received a fantastic result, selling for $1.650 million — $990,000 above CV.
Ray White Mangere salesperson Pat Lapalapa said it was a fantastic result for the vendor, who decided to push ahead with the online auction despite lockdown.
The vendor had lived in the home for 50 years and was retiring.
“The vendor and her daughter were celebrating their success last night,” Mr Lapalapa said.
“It was a corner site on a 900sqm section — good, prime real estate.”
The property generated keen interest, with 26 registered bidders and 24 bids at online auction.
The winning bid went to an investor who bought the property site unseen.
“They’re investors who are looking to land bank the property and potentially develop in nine months time,” Mr Lapalapa said.
Mr Lapalapa said he gave the vendor confidence in the market, and she trusted his advice to go ahead with the auction during lockdown.
“It’s been really busy during lockdown,” he said.
“The amount of buyer enquiries have doubled as investors and buyers are sitting at home, so what else is there to do?
“I don’t think we would of got to 26 registered bidders prior to lockdown.”
