Ray White Arrowtown’s beloved Daisy-Rae has successfully completed more than 200 deliveries to locals during Level 4 lockdown and will continue the successful operation into Level 3 as the office does its bit for the community.
Easily mistaken for a Kombi Van, the Ray White Arrowtown team of Holly Hargreaves, Todd Weeks and Michael Tierney originally purchased the Suzuki as a promotional vehicle, but it has since been put to great use in conjunction with local supermarket Four Square.
“I was travelling to Dunedin one day and on the way, I saw this yellow Kombi Van lookalike that was painted in the perfect Ray White colours,” Ms Hargreaves said.
“I didn’t have time to stop but I thought it would be a wonderful promotional vehicle for us to use at our open homes and at our auctions.
“The response we got from the local people was amazing – our little Daisy-Rae is now synonymous with the community of Arrowtown.”
“When we moved into Level Four lockdown the vehicle was no use to us so we approached Four Square with a view to offering her as a delivery vehicle,” Mr Tierney said.
“We have a lot of older residents in our community and we thought what better way to give something back than to offer a vehicle free of charge to carry out deliveries for those in need.
“So, we struck up the partnership with Four Square and they subsequently hired some drivers and more than 200 deliveries have been completed since.”
“It’s wonderful we’ve been able to do something positive for a community we genuinely love during one of the town’s most difficult periods,” Mr Weeks said.
“We’ve all been a part of the difficulty of lockdowns and for our little Daisy-Rae to be a ray of hope for some people is actually quite humbling.
“She’ll continue with her great work of delivering groceries in a contactless manner while we’re in Level 3 and perhaps beyond.”
